Jacquelyn Roesch-Sanchez

Jacquelyn Roesch-Sanchez lives and works in Palm City, Florida. She attended Montclair State University from 1993-1997, majoring in Fabric and Fibers. Having established an art practice since 1976, Roesch-Sanchez makes hand-loomed knitted Wearable Art in simple forms: jackets, dresses, pullovers, shawls and scarves. Through a meditative process, she imbues forms with a colorist’s eye. Choosing from 1700 colors of viscose thread and knitting on a loom in 3 or 4-strand combinations, she changes colors systematically to form complex and unique spectrums. All works are hand sewn with crocheted edges.

Roesch-Sanchez’s wearables have been collected by Yoko Ono, Elizabeth Taylor and Mia Farrow, among others. In 2008, Roesch-Sanchez created a knitted ceiling for a restaurant lobby in Montclair, New Jersey. Measuring 12’ x 22’ and incorporating 275 combinations of thread, the image is a sunset seen from a plane.
